|amandioka||10:25 pm - Ian O'Shea character sketch - The Host - G|
Title: Ian O'Shea
Medium: Photoshop 7 and mechanic pencil.
Notes: I'm so excited about this picture, even though they're just sketches, drawing a MALE character sketch is a first for me... and not only that, I managed to draw Ian very VERY close to how he looks in my head. I don't know how many of you have read The Host, but if you haven't, I hope you give the book a chance. It actually gets better after a re-read (happened to me).
I'm just not a fan of Stephenie Meyer's writing, that's all.
Really?? I didn't know! Or did I? *scratches head*
Well, I'm not much a critic to writing (if it's in my own language, okay, but in english...) so I can't tell you if she's improved or not. I liked the story, though.
Speaking of books, I just got my hands on The Sweet Far Thing... I read some of it, but I couldn't control myself and read the ending... OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! NOO!
Yeah. And it's okay..you didn't know. ;)
AMANDA HOW COULD YOU?! D: Granted, I didn't like the ending either..but I've come to terms with it. And it's beautiful and suiting, in a way.
Well, this kind of ending is the reason for me to skip and read how it's going to end beforehand... If my heart already went to pieces without following the story completely, imagine what it'd be like if I got caught by surprise? I'd need weeks to recover... I actually wrote a rant to post later on my LJ about the book. You know, in my head I can see how beautiful and suiting it is, but in my heart I can't accept it. x( I hate it when books/movies end like that. So you see, it's a love/hate thing. Still, can't wait to get the book in my hands so I can read it properly... meanwhile, I'll re-read the first two.
Yeah..I know what you mean. And I don't blame you for feeling that way. It sucks..but I read libba_bray
's take on the ending and I feel much better now. I dunno..just a thought.
I can't wait to read the rant!
And good plan. Enjoy rereading the first two books. :)Edited at 2008-06-06 03:39 am (UTC)
but I read [info]libba_bray's take on the ending and I feel much better now.
I was just going to say that to you! xD
It made me feel a bit better... just a tiny little bit, though. Hehe.
LOL..great minds think alike!
Aw. I'm glad to hear that it made you feel better, even if it was only a tiny bit. :)
Oh.. remember I told you I drew something for A Great and Terrible Beauty? It's just an sketch, that's why I haven't posted it. Here it is
. :) I may colour it someday. I've another fanart of Gemma and Kartik, though this one will take a while. But after reading TSFT I'll probably NEED to draw more. Do you know where I can find references for the girls's clothes?
Oooh that is GORGEOUS, Amanda! I want to print it and hang it on my wall.
And hmmm..try this website
? I'm not sure if it'll work for you..but it's worth a shot.
And I'm looking forward to seeing the Gemma/Kartik drawing. But take your time with it, okay? No rush. :)
Hee :D I'm happy you liked it! I'm kind of fond of it because the characters look really close to how I picture them in my head.
I've already been looking at some indian actors that I can use as reference to Kartik and I found one who looks like how I picture him: Shahid Kapoor
. Though my first drawing of Kartik looks nothing like him... I'll have lots of Gemma/Kartik drawings after I finish reading TSFT properly, I know I won't be able to control myself. ^^
You're welcome! And I forgot to say this earlier - I LOVE the way you drew Gemma. That's how I picture her in my mind too!
Hmmm..Shahid makes a pretty good Kartik. Too bad he doesn't have curly hair. :P

Hee you definitely won't see me complaining. :D Those two..-shakes head-

i don't reckon he'd look like that, he lives in the caves and stuff, so wouldn't he have longer hair? and it wouldn't be that pretty. good drawing though :)
